ACCA AFTER 12TH
One can take the ACCA preparation after 10th, but registration for the course is possible only after the completion of higher secondary education. However, to pursue this certification after your 12th grade, you must complete your 10+2 examination with an overall aggregate of 65%, specifically in Mathematics or Accounts and English, while maintaining a minimum of 50% in other subjects.
ACCA AFTER 12TH SCIENCE
Even though ACCA is associated with commerce background, students from all streams can pursue ACCA. Science students can potentially leverage the problem solving skills developed through their science education.
If one is from a science background, the candidate would be required to have passed the 12th grade exams with a minimum of 65% in English and Mathematics, and 50% in other subjects.
ACCA COURSE STRUCTURE AND SYLLABUS
ACCA consists of 13exams, divided into 3 levels:
- Applied Knowledge (3 exams) : Business and Technology (BT), Financial Accounting (FA), Management Accounting (MA)
- Applied Skills (6 exams): Corporate and Business Law (LW), Performance Management (PM), Taxation (TX), Financial Reporting (FR), Audit and Assurance (AA) & Financial Management (FM)
- Strategic Professional (4 exams): Strategic Business Reporting (SBR), Strategic Business Leader (SBL) & 2 out of 4 optional papers (Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Performance Management, Advanced Taxation & Advanced Audit and Assurance)
Also, candidates must complete an Ethics and Professional Skills module and 3 years of relevant work experience.
ACCA COURSE DURATION
The duration for the completion of the ACCA certification varies. The time required to complete ACCA depends on your study pace and exam preparation. The flexible structure allows you to take exams at your own pace
However, there are various stages during which you can pursue the ACCA qualification. The duration of completion also depends on the stage you enter the course.
Below are the exemptions and duration of the ACCA after grade 12, graduation, and each stage of the CA exam.
After 12th Grade
You can start your ACCA journey after finishing 12th-grade studies. Students are required to take all 13 papers within the ACCA curriculum. No exemptions are granted to students who take up the certification after 12th grade.
The ACCA course duration after 12th usually spans 2.5 to 3 years and requires comprehensive preparation.
After Graduation
Graduates benefit from exemptions, with up to 4 papers waived from the 13-paper ACCA curriculum.
For those who completed their bachelor’s degree in commerce, exemptions from 4 papers can be secured. These papers are Business and Technology, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Corporate and Business Law.
This reduces the ACCA course duration to approximately 2 to 2.5 years.

After CA Foundation
If you have cleared the CA Foundation/ CPT examination and are yet to finish your graduation, you get no exemptions towards the ACCA papers.
After CA Intermediate
Upon completing the CA Intermediate exam, you will get a few advantages in your ACCA journey. Individuals clearing the Intermediate exam are eligible for exemptions from up to 5 ACCA papers. These papers are Business and Technology, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Audit and Assurance, and Taxation.
One can complete their ACCA course in approximately 1.5 to 2 years if you focus diligently.
After CA Final
After becoming a CA, one can secure exemptions from 9 of the 13 ACCA papers, covering the Knowledge and Skill level exams.
These papers include Business and Technology, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Audit and Assurance, Performance Management Taxation, Corporate and Business Law, Financial Reporting, and Financial Management.
With these exemptions, the remaining 4 ACCA exams can be easily cleared in approximately 1 to 1.5 years.
