WHAT IS CA ARTICLESHIP

Becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) is a prestigious and rewarding career choice, but the journey requires dedication and hard work. One of the most crucial phases in this journey is the CA Articleship (also known as Practical Training), where the student undergoes practical insights of theoretical learning. This practical training period helps aspiring CAs gain real-world experience under the guidance of experienced professionals.

1.      CA ARTICLESHIP

Students who have passed the Intermediate level have to mandatorily undergo an articleship period of 2 years to be eligible to appear for the CA Final exams. It is a 2-year training program under a practicing CA or a CA firm approved by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). During this period, students apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management. This hands-on experience is essential for developing professional skills.

2. CA ARTICLESHIP PERIOD

The duration of the CA Articleship is 2 years. Students are eligible to appear for the CA Final exams only after a further period of 6 months after the completion of their articleship period. Also, they will need to complete Advanced ICITSS and MCS before appearing for the CA Final exams.

3. CA ARTICLESHIP REGISTRATION FEES

There are no registration fees for CA Articleship. However, to commence their articleship, they will first have to complete an Information Technology & Orientation Course.

4. CA ARTICLESHIP REQUIREMENTS

To start your CA Articleship, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Clear CA Intermediate (Both Groups) – You must pass Group 1 and Group 2 of CA Intermediate before registering for Articleship.
  2. Complete Information Technology & Orientation Course – Mandatory before Articleship registration.
  3. Find a Registered CA Mentor – You must train under a practicing CA or a CA firm registered with ICAI.
  4. Submit Required Documents – Such as:

·       CA Intermediate Marksheet

·       Information Technology & Orientation Course Completion Certificate

·       Articleship Registration Form (Form 102, Form 112 (if applicable), Form 103)

·       Photographs & ID Proof

5. WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR CA ARTICLESHIP?

You can register for CA Articleship if you meet the following criteria:

·       Cleared CA Intermediate (Both Groups) – Must pass Group 1 & Group 2 of CA Intermediate.

·       Completed Information Technology & Orientation Course – Information Technology & Orientation Course must be completed before Articleship registration.

·       Registered with ICAI – Must be a registered student of ICAI.
