ICAI Registration Process for CA Foundation, Intermediate & Final (2025)

Chartered Accountancy (CA) is a highly respected profession in finance, accounting, and business advisory services. In India, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) regulates the CA course, which is known for its academic rigor and comprehensive curriculum.
The CA course after 12th starts with CA Foundation, which is followed by CA Intermediate. After clearing the CA Final, one can become a Chartered Accountant.
CA FOUNDATION
The CA Foundation is the entry-level exam for the CA Course.
Provisional registration is available for students who have passed their 10th-grade exams. Students awaiting their exam results can also register provisionally.
Part 1: Registration with ICAI
To register as a student with ICAI, follow the given steps:
Step 1: Go to the ICAI website (www.icai.org), click on the ‘Self Service Portal (SSP)’ tab
Step 2: Candidates who are registering for the first time for CA need to click on ‘New Students Who Want to Register for CA for the first time, click here’
Step 3: Fill in the form carefully. Candidates should note that they cannot change any detail provided by them after submission of the Form. After filling in the required details, candidates should click on ‘Generate OTP’.
Step 4: After clicking on ‘Generate OTP’, a confirmation window will pop up. In case you have entered the wrong Mobile Number. Click on cancel & change your Mobile Number. If you have entered the correct Mobile Number, click on ‘OK’.
Step 5: After clicking on ‘OK’, it will show a captcha verification window. Enter the captcha text displayed in the image & click on ‘Submit’ to receive OTP.
Step 6: An OTP (Time Password) will be generated & will be sent to their registered Email Id & Mobile No. After entering the OTP, click on ‘Validate OTP’.
Step 7: After getting your mobile number & email ID validated, the APP number & password will be sent to the registered email ID as entered. Students can now log in to the login page of the next step with the same credentials.
Part 2: Procedure for CA FOUNDATION registration
To register for the CA Foundation level of the CA Course, follow the steps:
Step 1: When you log in to the SSP Portal using the APP number & password generated in the earlier step, the student’s profile window will appear. Students have to click on the ‘Student Function’ option.
Step 2: After clicking on the student function option, a student module window will pop up. Candidates have to click on the ‘Course Registration’ tab.
Step 3: After clicking on the Course Registration, Candidates have to click on the ‘Apply for Foundation’ tab.
Step 4: The foundation registration form will then appear on the screen. Carefully fill in all the details required to fill in the three tabs, namely
- Candidate personal details: - carefully fill in the personal details and save for the next step.
- Qualification details: - carefully fill in & upload qualification details and save to the next step.
- Payment details: - upload documents prescribed below & carefully make payments
Documents required
For the CA Foundation Registration, you'll need to upload a scanned copy of the original documents. Only scanned copies are accepted; images captured by a mobile device or camera will be rejected.
- Passport size photo & Signature.
- 10th mark sheets
- School/ college leaving certificate
CA INTERMEDIATE
CA Intermediate consists of 6 papers that cover a wide range of topics in finance and accounting. You'll gain in-depth knowledge of: Financial accounting and reporting, Corporate and other laws, Cost and management accounting, Taxation, Advanced accounting & Auditing, and assurance
How to register for the CA Intermediate Course?
Step 1: Visit the ICAI Website
- Go to the ICAI Self-Service Portal (SSP): https://www.icai.org/.
- Log in to your account or create a new one if you don’t already have an account.
Step 2: Fill Out the Registration Form
- After logging in, go to the Course Registration section.
- Select CA Intermediate and the applicable route (Foundation or Direct Entry).
- Fill out your personal, academic, and professional details accurately.
- Upload the required documents.
Step 3: Upload Required Documents
Ensure you have scanned copies of these documents:
- Foundation Route:
- CA Foundation mark sheet or pass certificate.
- 10th and 12th mark sheets
- Recent color photograph
- Direct Entry Route:
- Graduation/Post-Graduation mark sheet.
- Provisional degree certificate (if applicable).
- Mark sheet for CS Executive/CMA Intermediate (if applicable).
- Recent color photograph

- Once payment is successful, you'll receive a confirmation email containing the Student Registration Number (SRN) and acknowledgment.
- Your study material will be dispatched to your registered address or can be accessed digitally through the ICAI BOS on icai.org
The CA Intermediate registration fees vary based on the number of groups a student registers for and their nationality. Below is the detailed fee structure for both Indian and foreign students:
Candidates/Students from newly formed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and 8 North-East States, namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura may note that with effect from 20th September 2019, ICAI has waived off 75% fee for the students registering from these Union Territories and States for all levels of CA Course.
For CA Intermediate, a common fee concession available is a 75% reduction on the registration fee for wards of deceased ICAI members, meaning they would only pay 25% of the standard registration cost for the CA Intermediate course; this concession applies to all levels of the CA course, including Foundation and Final.
ICITSS & ADVANCED ICITSS
Students must undergo Information Technology Training in two phases. The first phase occurs before commencing Articleship (practical training), and the second phase occurs before attempting the CA Final examinations.
ICAI has introduced two courses for this purpose: the Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) and Advanced ICITSS.
Students must complete the ICITSS, which consists of Information Technology Training (IT) and the Orientation Courses, before commencing Practical Training. The classes are conducted for at least 6 hours per day over 15 working days.
Students must complete the Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS), consisting of Advanced Information Technology (Advanced IT) and the Management and Communication Skills (MCS) Course, after completing the Practical Training period but before appearing in the Final Level Examination. The classes are conducted for at least 6 hours per day over 15 working days.
How to register for ICITSS & AICITSS?
The registration is done online.
Step 1: Log in to the Online Portal
- Visit www.icaionlineregistration.org.
- Log in using your credentials.
Step 2: Register for a Batch
- Select the desired batch launched by the Programme Organising Unit (POU).
- Complete the registration process.
Step 3: Print Acknowledgement Slip
- After successful registration, download and print the acknowledgment slip from the portal.
Step 4: Submit Required Documents
- Collect all documents mentioned in the acknowledgment slip.
- Submit them along with the acknowledgment slip to the concerned POU at least two days before the batch commencement.
Step 5: Verification & Confirmation
- The POU will verify the submitted documents.
- Upon successful verification, your registration will be confirmed.
Documents Required:
The following documents are required to be submitted at the respective training Centre/POU along with an Acknowledgment Slip 2 days before the start of the batch for confirmation of your registration as per the batch schedule mentioned above.
- IPCC registration letter/IPCC Marksheet/Admit Card of IPCC, as applicable.
- Color passport-size photograph.
- Copy of identity card issued by the Institute, or a Copy of identity card issued by the Government. Agency (Voter ID, Driving License, Passport, UID).
In case the required documents are not submitted 2 days before the start of the batch, the seat may be allotted to some other student in waiting, and your name may not be considered for the same batch or the immediate next batch due to limited seat availability.
ICITSS FEES
The fee for IT Training is ₹ 6,500, and for Orientation training, the fee is ₹ 7,000.
ICAI SPOM exam registration
The Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOM) were introduced into the CA curriculum by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) under the new scheme of learning and training in 2024.
The ICAI has introduced a separate portal for SPOM, called the “ICAI Digital Learning Campus.” Students can access the portal after registering for their CA Final course. There is no separation registration or additional fees to this portal. The login credentials for the portal are the same as those used for the SSP Portal.
Exam registration is done through spmt.icai.org, a part of the “ICAI Digital Learning Campus.” Students can book seats at their preferred exam centers, locations, and convenient dates after making a payment of ₹500 for each module. The assessments are conducted online through multiple-choice questions (MCQs). For Sets A and B, the questions are case-scenario-based, while for Sets C and D, the questions include a combination of independent MCQs and case-scenario-based MCQs. Private computer centers serve as the exam centers.
Each module consists of a three-hour exam worth 100 marks (50 questions of 2 marks each). There is no negative marking or restriction on the number of attempts. To pass a module, students must score more than 50% on the online test.
CA FINAL
The CA Final Course marks the culmination of the Chartered Accountancy program, comprising six core subjects divided into two groups of three papers each.
How to register for the CA Final Course?
The registration process for the CA Final Course is an online process
- Visit the ICAI Website: Go to the official ICAI website
- Click on the “e-services” menu bar and select the student services option from the drop-down menu.
- Log in to the SSP Portal using your credentials.
- Select ‘Student Cycle’: Choose the CA Final course under the student cycle section.
- Complete the Registration Form: Verify your details, upload the required documents, and select preferences for elective papers and examination centers. The documents must be uploaded in JPG format; the maximum file size is 100 KB.
- Pay the Fees: Pay the registration fee for both groups through debit/credit card or net banking.
- Confirm and Download: After successful payment, download the confirmation PDF, which includes your registration number and course details.
Documents Required:
Candidates must keep the scanned copies of the following documents ready before filling out the CA Final application form:
- A recent passport-size and coloured photograph of the candidate
- Duly attested mark sheet of CA IPCC/ CA Intermediate
- Proof of nationality (in the case of foreign students)
- Attested proof of special category certificate ( for SC/ ST/ differently abled candidates)
- Duly attested mark sheet of CA Foundation/ CPT (if the candidate is not applying through the direct route)
CA Final Course Registration Form Fees
The registration fees for the CA Final Course vary depending on the student's location.
For Indian Students ₹. 22,000
For Foreign Students US$ 1100
Candidates/Students from newly formed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and 8 North-East States, namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura may note that with effect from 20th September 2019, ICAI has waived off 75% fee for the students registering from these Union Territories and States for all levels of CA Course i.e. Foundation, Intermediate and Final.
Therefore, a fee of ₹ 5,500/- needs to be paid by the above categories of students while registering for the CA Final course.
