The CA Direct Entry Scheme enables candidates to enter the professional course without having to appear for the CA Foundation examination. This route provides direct access to the CA Intermediate level, bypassing the foundational stage.
CA DIRECT ENTRY SCHEME 2025
The CA Direct Entry Scheme is tailored for:-
- Graduates
- Postgraduates
- Intermediate-level students from ICMAI or ICSI
This scheme aims to attract academically strong candidates to the profession, ensuring they can embark on a structured pathway to becoming Chartered Accountants.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CA DIRECT ENTRY SCHEME 2025
To qualify for the CA Direct Entry Scheme 2025, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- For Commerce Graduates/Postgraduates: A minimum score of 55% is mandatory.
- For Non-Commerce Graduates/Postgraduates: A minimum score of 60% is required.
- For Intermediate-Level Students of ICSI/ICMAI: Successful completion of intermediate examinations.
PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS
Final-year students can register for the CA Intermediate course. However, proof of graduation with specified grades must be submitted within six months of completing the final-year exams. Non-submission of required documents within the stipulated time may lead to cancellation of registration.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
Step 1: Visit the ICAI Website
- Go to the ICAI Self-Service Portal (SSP): https://www.icai.org/.
- To create a new account: Click on “First Time User (New Student)?
- Fill up the personal details:
- Name
- Gender
- Date of Birth
- Email address
- Country Code
- Mobile Number
- Country Name
- Nationality
- OTP will be sent to the mobile number
- Complete the captcha and select submit
- A Verification link containing the user ID and password will be sent to the provided email address
- The login credentials sent through email can be used to log in to the self-service portal
Step 2: Fill Out the Registration Form
- After logging in, go to the Course Registration section.
- Select CA Intermediate and the applicable route, i.e., Direct Entry.
- Fill out your personal, academic, and professional details accurately.
- Upload the required documents.
Step 3: Upload Required Documents
Ensure you have scanned copies of these documents:
- Graduation/Postgraduation mark sheet.
- Provisional degree certificate (if applicable).
- Mark sheet for CS Executive/CMA Intermediate (if applicable).
- Recent color photograph
Step 4: Pay the Registration Fees
Pay the required fees online through debit/credit card or net banking:

- Once payment is successful, you'll receive a confirmation email containing the Student Registration Number (SRN) and acknowledgment.
- Your study material will be dispatched to your registered address or can be accessed digitally through the ICAI BOS at icai.org
REGISTRATION FEES
The CA Intermediate registration fees vary based on the number of groups a student registers for and their nationality. Below is the detailed fee structure for both Indian and foreign students:
Candidates/Students from newly formed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and 8 North-East States, namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura may note that with effect from 20th September 2019, ICAI has waived off 75% fee for the students registering from these Union Territories and States for all levels of CA Course.
For CA Intermediate, a common fee concession available is a 75% reduction on the registration fee for wards of deceased ICAI members, meaning they would only pay 25% of the standard registration cost for the CA Intermediate course; this concession applies to all levels of the CA course, including Foundation and Final.
STEPS UNDER THE DIRECT ENTRY SCHEME ARE AS UNDER:
- Register with the BoS for the Intermediate Course (provisional registration allowed for the Final year graduates/postgraduates).
- Complete 8 months of theoretical education in the Intermediate Course.
- Apply to appear in the Intermediate examination by filling up the prescribed Exam Form.
- Appear and Pass both the Groups of the Intermediate Examination.
- Complete the Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before commencement of the Practical Training.
- Register for two-year Practical Training after passing both the Groups of Intermediate Examination and completing ICITSS.
- Register for the Final Course after qualifying for both Groups of the Intermediate Examination.
HOW MANY ATTEMPTS ARE ALLOWED FOR CA INTERMEDIATE?
The Intermediate exams are held thrice a year – January, May, and September. There are no restrictions on the number of attempts for students of CA Intermediate.
